Dunlewey Substance Advice Centre
Gambling in Ireland has now become more socially acceptable and like horse racing it has been integrated into our culture. Whilst for the majority of gamblers it remains an occasional social activity, some find that it may escalate out of control.
GamCare, a registered UK charity, has become the leading authority on the provision of
counselling, advice and practical help in addressing the social impact of gambling.
The Irish Bookmakers Association (IBA) has supported the work of
GamCare since 2005
and we appreciate the service, support and advice they have given us over the years.
The IBA
was committed to creating
an Irish Organisation for problem gamblers
and their families, and to promote responsible
attitudes to
gambling by persons working in the industry and participants.
We now have a dedicated, localised service for problem gamblers in Ireland. We are proud to announce that the Dunlewey Substance Abuse and Advice centre in Northern Ireland is running this service.
It has almost 20 counsellors across Ireland who offer face to face counselling sessions to persons affected by problem gambling. They
are all qualified practicing
psychotherapists and offer free local face to face counselling sessions. Clients are referred to them via The Dunlewey Substance abuse and advice centre,
The Freephone number to avail of this service is 1800 93 67 25
